Tatshenshini / Alsek

Rated as one of the top ten river trips in the world. The Tatshenshini is located in the largest preserve in the world which consists of Glacier Bay National Park, BC Tatshenshini Provincial Park, Kluane National Park and Yukon Game Preserve. This is the largest non-polar ice field in the world.

Alsek River

The Alsek River flows southward from its source at the confluence of the Dezadeash and Kaskawulsh Rivers, through large glaciated valleys of the St. Elias Mountains. Rugged glacial valleys are home for wild populations of grizzly bear and mountain goat. Arctic plant life clings to the light glaciated soils. Sand dunes and glacial till provide a contrasting environment for the diverse and fragile vegetation found here.

McNeil River

Fishing on the McNeil RiverThe McNeil starts at McNeil Lake in the St Cyr Range, which is located about 30 miles north east of Quiet Lake. The trip begins in moose pond country, an area with plenty of wildlife, great fishing, a panoramic view of the mountains and ideal hiking. We will encounter many moose, depending on how quietly we travel, it could be five or twenty-five.

Bonnet Plume River

The Bonnet Plume flows from the Mackenzie Mountains through several ranges into the Peel River and it is one of the best whitewater trips in Yukon. The Bonnet Plume River passes through a wide range of environments, a pristine wilderness rich in natural history, which is home to a herd of woodland caribou, sheep moose and grizzlies.

Hess River

At first the river is small and narrow. It is the perfect habitat for moose, caribou and a great variety of waterfowl. The river flows South towards Keele Peak which is the highest point in the Selwyn-Mackenzie Mountains. Keele Peak is a huge circular, stand-alone massif, surrounded by valleys with small trees. The massif contains glaciers radiating out from the peak, and covering an area 10 km by 10 km.

Primrose Pack Raft

Excellent river for pack rafts. Steep mountains in a valley with pristine wilderness. Lots of fun white water and remote. Several portages. Perfect for adventure seekers and people wanting to go off the beaten path. The start of the trip is at Primrose Lake. There are many hiking options.

Pack Rafting

Leave from Blanchard camp the Morning of the 11th and drive to Parton put in. The hike in is 7 hrs. Beautiful alpine scenery, and 2 kms over the Parton Glacier. We will camp by a little lake near the glacier. Next day, the 12th, we will hike 1 hrs to the put in. The first ride is fast and wild but easy to walk around. Then river meander through the pristine Parton valley. The last 5 kms are fast, non stop grade II+.
